Ivan Charles Trombley, age 86, died in Corpus Christi, Texas on September 26, 2011. Ivan was born on August 13, 1925 in Hyndsville, NY. He was predeceased by his parents George Raymond Trombley and Gladys (Lowe) Trombley, his brother Marlin George Trombley, and his granddaughter Meghan. Ivan is survived by his wife Patricia Anne, three sons Michael Bruce (Patty), Peter Ivan (Maggie) and Paul George, and six grandchildren, Christopher, Jessica, Nathan, John, Katherine, and Alex.
Ivan earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Clarkson University (Potsdam, NY) in 1948 and his M.S. in Library Science from Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY) in 1949. Upon graduation, he was a chemical librarian for the University of Texas for two years. He then worked as a chemical research librarian for PPG Industries in Corpus Christ for 32 years. Upon retirement from PPG, Ivan worked for three years for the Corpus Christi Public Library and three more years for the Celanese Research Center in Corpus Christi. He was an Emeritus Member (50 years) of the American Chemical Society and a Life Member (40 years) of the Special Libraries Association.
In life, Ivan enjoyed in genealogy, world travel, and spelunking. He also was interested in the history, plants, birds, and wildlife of the Texas Coastal Bend.
