Howard “Howie” Austin Spitzer, Jr., age 54, born April 11, 1958 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Howard Austin Spitzer, Sr. and Margaret Ann Pinson Spitzer went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 30, 2012. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rev. Lee and Elsie Spitzer and maternal grandparents, Rev. Walter and Lillian Pinson; numerous relatives and friends. Howie had one son, Howard Austin Spitzer III, “Trey” and three grandchildren, Daylon Hawkins, Gavin and Abigail Spitzer. Howie had four siblings, Kimberly Spitzer, Garry Spitzer, Laurie (Robert) Mayo and Randy (Tara) Spitzer. His nephews and nieces were Frankie Harper, Travis, Garry, Chris, Sawyer Spitzer, Lexie, Robert Mayo, Joshua Schaffer, Hannah and Baylee Spitzer, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Howard served in the United States Navy for 7 years as a Radioman Third Class until an injury that brought him home to stay. Home to him during this time was the USS Ponchatula, and the USS Blue Ridge. He loved his job, and he had a strong love and respect for his country and the military, and he was proud to serve. Pallbearers are, Frankie Harper, Jim Willis, Nelson Lanam, Bobby Pate, Frank Mireles, and David Brand. Honorary pall bearers are Buddy Thomas and Don Campbell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Caribbean Baptist Church, 3125 Waldron Road, Corpus Christi, Texas, P.O. Box 18789, Corpus Christi, Texas 78480. Please note in memory of Howie Spitzer for the Prayer Garden. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
