Herminia “Minnie” Trevino, 77, passed away on the 21st of May 2024 in Corpus Christi, TX with her loving family by her side. She was born on June 9, 1946 to Eduardo and Guadalupe Medrano, who were migrant workers. After dedicating 30 years as a Bookkeeper and Administrative Assistant at the Port of Corpus Christi, Minnie embraced her retirement by embarking on countless adventures with her friends and loved ones. She remained an active member of various organizations, including the Red Hat Club, the Garden Master's Club, and the Golden Girls Birthday Club, where she formed cherished friendships.
Minnie and her best friend of over 50 years, Ms. Terry Montez, traveled frequently, a few destinations including Las Cruces, NM, Puerto Vallarta, The Grand Canyon, and visited casinos, landmarks, and explored numerous restaurants. Fondly known as "Mamma Minnie," she treasured every moment spent with family and friends. Minnie and her daughter shared a close bond, being not just mother and daughter but also best friends. They enjoyed after-work dinners together, shopping excursions, and relaxing moments. Minnie's delicious Pan de Polvo cookies were a favorite during their time together. Their special bond, filled with love and cherished memories, will forever be treasured by Minnie's daughter. She will be greatly missed by her pride and joy, Sammy, her beloved grandson. Minnie will forever be loved and missed by everyone whose lives she touched. If you knew her, she was always ready for a picture, but in her words “Wait, I need my lipstick!”
Minnie is preceded in death by her parents, Eduardo and Guadalupe Medrano; Siblings who have preceded her in death include one sister, Concepcion (Connie) Medrano, and nine brothers, Domingo Medrano, Rafael Medrano, Narciso Medrano, Magdaleno Medrano, Joaquin Medrano, Perfecto Medrano, Ramiro Medrano, Alonso Lopez, and Arturo Lopez.
She is survived by one daughter, Loucy (Ben) Garcia from Corpus Christi; a grandchild, Samuel Guerrero from Corpus Christi; and three siblings, two brothers, Daniel Medrano from San Antonio and Enrique Medrano from Houston, and one sister, Reynalda Munoz from Sanger, CA. She will be missed by her numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Six of Minnie’s loved ones, Rafael Medrano Jr., Robert A Medrano, Raul A Montalvo Jr., Johnny Saenz, David Cortinas, Richard Ortiz, will serve as pallbearers, and Samuel Guerrero as honorable pallbearer.
A public visitation for Minnie will be held Monday, June 3, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 10:00 AM, with an interment immediately following at Memory Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery.
