Henry Lopez Saavedra was born in Kingsville, TX on October 25, 1947 to parents Samuel Saavedra Sr. and Dominga Saavedra. At a young age, Henry was a little league all-star pitcher and catcher who continued to play baseball through high school at H.M. King where he graduated in 1965. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at age 18 and served 4 years in the Vietnam War where he worked on airplane radios. Henry was an incredibly intelligent man who earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1975 from Texas A&I University Kingsville and worked as a communications consultant at Southwestern Bell and AT&T for most of his career. He was the embodiment of selflessness and took care of everyone around him. He considered himself blessed to be able to help others and never failed to show up for those in need, because as he always said, “I take care of business.” He was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and walked the “straight and narrow” to the very end. Everything he did was driven by his Godly morals and values, committed to doing what he believed was right and best for those he loved. Henry enjoyed fishing whenever he could and never missed an Astros baseball game, but his absolute joy in life was his wife and kids. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Irasema “Edie” Saavedra, children Enemencio Jesus “E.J.” Saavedra and wife Brittney, Dr. Iliana Maria Saavedra and fiancé Michael Spremulli, John David Saavedra and wife Anallely; siblings Angelica Castro, Dalia Woodward and husband “Woody,” Hilda Urquizo, and Rene Saavedra; numerous nieces and nephews, and his soon to be born granddaughter, Isabelle Maria Saavedra. He is preceded in death by his father Samuel Saavedra Sr., mother Dominga Saavedra, and brother Samuel Saavedra Jr. Well done good and faithful servant… (Matthew 25:23). Visitations and viewing will begin at 5 pm followed by a praise and worship service at 7 pm, Solid Rock Church 3035 Ayers St., Corpus Christi TX., on Friday, October 14, 2022.
