1956-2021
Surrounded by his loving family, Hector Mendiola, Jr., 64, departed from this life and joined his savior Jesus Christ in heaven, Tuesday, March 2, 2021. He was born on October 12, 1956, to Hector, Sr. and Christina Mendiola, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Preceding him in death are both parents, his beloved brother, George Mendiola and nephew Richard Mendiola.
Hector was a proud graduate of Roy Miller HS, (Once a Buc, Always a Buc) and went on to work as a courier for Carr’s Delivery Service before joining Federal Express, where he worked for more than 28 years.
He was an extraordinary father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and loyal friend. His bigger than life personality, smile that could light up any room and warm embrace will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Hector’s love and devotion to family was by far, his life’s greatest accomplishment, most of all his only son, Hector. He spent countless hours volunteering at King HS while his son and grandchildren attended school. Always willing to jump in and help, he served in a variety of roles, from being on the board for football boosters, to becoming a proud member of the “Parent Mob” for the band, where he lovingly earned the nickname OSHA, there was nothing he wouldn’t do.
His passion for cars inspired him to become the President of Extended Pleasures Truck Club, where he made many lifelong friends. Following the time with Extended Pleasures, his love of Tejano Music ignited an entrepreneurial spirit, leading him to join Crystal Clear Productions, providing sound and lighting for bands and DJs all over Texas, until he took over as owner of the company.
He leaves behind, his beloved son, Hector (Kathy) Mendiola III, grandchildren: Cynthia “Mari” Ramirez, Aurora “Angel” Ramirez, Darren Mendiola and great grandson: Xzavier Medina. Hector is also survived by his siblings: Cruz (Lisa) Mendiola, Debbie (Jesse) Villarreal, nieces and nephews: George Mendiola Jr., Cruz Mendiola Jr., Robert Mendiola, Matthew Mendiola, George Villarreal, Christina Villarreal, Jesse Villarreal, Jr., numerous aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.
