Guadalupe “Lupe” M. Rodriguez is now in our Lord’s embrace. Lupe passed away during the early morning of October 9, 2017. His wife, Dora Rodriguez and his sons Guadalupe “Boyd” and Mike Rodriguez will miss him dearly.
If Lupe had had the opportunity to write his own obituary we can only imagine that he would describe himself as man that was dedicated to his family whom he loved unconditionally. That he grew up in an era when a man was a man and men were not afraid to work hard and show their hard work on their callused hands. When words such as respect, honor, and commitment had true meaning and were words to live by.
It should not be difficult to imagine the multiple reasons Lupe has made an impact on our lives in his 73 years of his life. This obituary is being crafted to honor and reflect who Lupe was. Sometimes one cannot find the right words to describe someone, but in Lupe’s case we are not short of words. Some words would describe him as loving, kind, honorable, stern, and wise. A man who possessed tremendous knowledge. He could carry on a conversation about worldly news, politics and how to “fix” anything.
Lupe would let you know that he received a call, a sort of offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. Job security there is exactly 110 percent. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing to his heart’s contentment, where food is delicious and he will never gain a pound.
Lupe was married for 53 years to his beautiful wife Dora Rodriguez. He retired from Reynolds Sherwin Alumina after 31 years of service. Lupe had a passion for bow fishing and hunting. He loved his work on his ranch. He is survived by his sons Guadalupe “Boyd” Rodriguez (Hilda), Mike Rodriguez (Melissa), his grandchildren Sarah, Anissa and Anthony, his brothers and sisters, Frank Rodriguez, Ida Rodriguez, Raymond Rodriguez (Esther), Reynaldo Rodriguez (Carmen), Joe Rodriguez, Jesse Rodriguez (Trini), Mary Lou Eloisa Martinez. Many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Rosary will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Viewing will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Interment is scheduled for Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
