Gregorio was the oldest son of Josefa Tejeda Treviño and Jose Garcia Treviño, born on November 17th, 1941 in Elgin, Texas. Gregorio graduated from West Oso High School in 1959. He then went on to join the military and served in the U.S. Army in the third infantry from 1963 to 1966 where he was stationed in Germany for some time.
Shortly after returning home, he met Maria Cortez Treviño and married on September 15th, 1966 at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church. Together, Gregorio and his wife Maria raised three children Joey Cortez Treviño, Gina Treviño, and Dina Marie Treviño.
Gregorio went on to work for the Corpus Christi Army Depot specializing in upholstery. During his time at the CCAD he won numerous awards and certificates. He later retired on January 3rd, 2006. Gregorio was an active Veteran and proud member of the Knights of Columbus and the AFGE.
Gregorio was known for his quick wit and storytelling. He had a passion for music as he spent his life playing the guitar and was a part of the musical group LeMens. Gregorio loved nothing more than to spend time with his grandchildren taking them to the park as children, and attending their high school sporting events, he was always there. Gregorio was also a lifelong Astros and Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching the games while drinking a nice cold beer.
Gregorio is preceded in death by Josefa Tejeda Treviño, Jose Garcia Treviño, and Joe (Pepe) Treviño.
His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family: his wife Maria Cortez Treviño; his children, Joe Cortez Treviño, Gina Treviño Soliz (Ruben), Dina Marie Treviño; his 5 grandchildren, Joseph Treviño, Ameranda Treviño, Victoria Treviño, Natalya Treviño, Jayden Villarreal; his 4 great grandchildren, Camila Olivia, Nehemiah, Juliette and Jonah; his siblings, Carmen (TJ) Jimenez, Ernest (Yvonne) Treviño, Juan (Sylvia) Treviño, Eddie Treviño, Rosie (Manuel) Lopez, Norma (Joe) Villarreal, Jerry Treviño; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to give a special thank you to Gregorio's sister Norma Villarreal and her husband Joe Villarreal, the nurses and staff at Spohn Shoreline and The Corpus Christi Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
To honor Gregorio's memory a visitation for Gregorio will be held Monday, June 10, 2024, at 5:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A holy rosary and eulogy will occur Monday, June 10, 2024, at 7:00 PM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415.
A church mass will occur Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Pilar, 1101 Bloomington St., Corpus Christi, TX 78416. A rite of committal and interment with final military honors will occur Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 99741-37, Corpus Christi, TX 78410
