Graciela, lovingly known as "GG" to her family, lived a blessed, adventurous, resilient and fulfilling 88 years. She met the Love of her life with whom she spent 44 wonderful years of marriage. She guided and spiritually nourished her family and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was the most loving and devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend.
As a strong, independent and devoted woman, Graciela dedicated her early years to the upbringing and uplifting of her children, making sure they never doubted the power of her Love. Despite battling with Alzheimer's, which affected her short-term memory, it did not rob her of being loving, compassionate, sassy, witty, kind, gentle and spirited, tenacious behavior.
There was never a time you would visit her home that she wouldn't be cooking for her family because cooking was a way she showed her love. Being very creative, Graciela designed garments for special occasions for her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters. She greatly enjoyed reading and studying her Bible in English and Spanish. Prior to her diagnosis of Alzheimer's, Graciela was actively involved in the church administration. She would visit the sick while passionately spreading God's word.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Juan M. Pérez. Graciela never failed to share how she felt loved and adored by him. The love between Graciela and Juan gave their children hope for a partner as amazing as Juan. She continued to love and miss him until her last days.
"Being someone's first love may be great, but to be their last is beyond perfect." - Anonymous.
She is also preceded in death by a host of siblings and relatives.
Graciela's love for her children is a testament to God's love. The legacy she leaves behind will continue thru her eight children: Mary Helen (Robert) Ortiz, Juan (Tomasa) Pérez III, Adelina (Pablo) Diaz, José Luis (Blanche) Pérez, Felipe De Jesus (Debra) Pérez, Raymundo (Lorena) Pérez, Graciela (Frank) Casiano, Robert (Gina) Pérez. Her children also blessed her with 28 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 5 sisters, 1 brother and a multitude of nieces and nephews. As her family grew, Grandma GG helped mold and instill the values her entire family uphold and honor today.
These last few years, she was very happy just staying home visiting with her family and watching her telenovelas. However, once a year, she traveled with her daughters creating special memories as only mothers and daughters can. In her last days, she was surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
