Gloria Emily Garcia

Gloria Emily Garcia, age 69, passed away January 4, 2016. She was born on April 20, 1946 to Carmen Pantoja and Ismael Garcia in Harlingen, Texas. She was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. She graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1965 and then went on to graduate from Del Mar College with a nursing degree. Emily worked as a licensed vocational nurse at Christus Spohn Shoreline where she met her husband, Dr. Pedro E. Garcia.

She married her husband of 44 years on August 20, 1971.

Emily was a loving grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and ultimately a magnificent mother. She will always be remembered for her love of laughter, outgoing personality and indestructible faith. She was full of life and could warm anyone’s heart with her positive spirit. We will miss you mom.

Gloria Emily Garcia is survived by her husband; Dr. Pedro E. Garcia Jr., her son; Pedro E. Garcia III, her daughter; Joanna Garcia Ives, son in law; Chad Ives, grandsons; Abram, and Bronson Ives, brother; Mike Garcia, sisters; Gloria Gonzalez and Yolanda Esqueda and the late Sally Gongora.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Our lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
