Gloria Garcia

Gloria V. Garcia was taken peacefully by our Dear Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 15, 2010 with her family by her side, after an eight year battle with brain cancer. She was born on February 24, 1955 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gilberto Garcia, Sr.

Gloria graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1973 and attended the University of Corpus Christi. For many years she ran a daycare center in her name. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She was a devout catholic and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Gloria also worked as an Election Judge during elections.

She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Cecilia V. Garcia; brothers, Gilbert Garcia (Ernestine), Noe Garcia (Nelda); sister, Corina Garcia; several nieces, nephew, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Also surviving are other loving family members and friends.

The family would like to thank Sandra Barillas and her husband, Pastor David Barillas; Vista Hospice; nurses, Alma Ramirez, Terry English and Bill Reeves, Tammy Lascano, Kevin Woods; Dr. Jude Aririguzo and staff, Laura and Sandy; and De Leon Pharmacy. Also a special thanks to Deacons Israel Blanco, Armando Botello, Steve Nolte and Pastor Abel Armendariz.

The family will be receiving friends at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 3:00 to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
