Maria, affectionately known as Gloria, was born in Beeville, Texas on June 11, 1939 to Guadalupe Llamas, Sr. and Petra Solis Llamas.
Gloria spent her life dedicated to serving those around her. She treated everyone as if they were her own kin and blood, doing whatever she could to ensure they were taken care of. From hosting family dinners at her house, making platters of rice for church events, and making tacos for her husband and his friends, she never let a single soul go hungry. She was always in the kitchen, creating food for her children, grandchildren and more as a way of expressing her love. Many will miss her delicious menudo, beef caldo, carne guisada, arroz con pollo, and tamales just to name a few. Gloria had a passion for baking and made the best moist cakes that would melt in your mouth. Her specialty was German chocolate cake and Pineapple upside down cake. Gloria not only knew her way around the kitchen but she was also an avid fisherman. She enjoyed fishing with her grandchildren and children. She valued her time with her children and grandchildren by attending school events, sports activities, and special moments in their lives. Her presence will be missed dearly.
She was a woman of faith and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where she served as a member of the Guadalupana Society and could always be found volunteering with the Youth Ministry as well as the Altar Servers with their fundraisers. Gloria also worked at Holy Family Catholic School as a cook in the cafeteria. She enjoyed cooking but the best part of her job was being called “grandma” by all the children!
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, sister in law, aunt, and great friend to many.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Juanita Ingram, brother, Celestino Llamas, loving husband, Gilberto Anes Jr., and two grandsons, Guadalupe Ramos and Rodolfo Juarez, Jr.
She was a proud parent and is survived by eight children, Rodolfo (Margie) Juarez, Hilda (+Joe) Ramos, Noe (Lynne) Juarez, Rose Klis, Marco (Irene) Anes, Gilberto (Josie) Anes, III, Mary (Rudy) Perez and Rolando Xavier Anes; 21 grandchildren and several great grandchildren along with her brothers, Guadalupe (Gloria) Llamas, Pedro (+Julia) Llamas and sister, Josie (Ramiro) Martinez.
