Jane Fikes passed away on Saturday, May 23, at the age of 92. Jane was born in Mercedes, Texas on March 10, 1923 to George and Frances Fikes. Jane graduated from Mercedes High School and attended college at both Abilene Christian University and Del Mar College. Jane retired from Exxon-Mobil and at the time of her retirement she was a Staff Assistant in Employee Relations.
Jane became a member of the Windsor Park Church of Christ (now Kings Crossing Church of Christ) in 1990 and was very, very involved in numerous church activities and ministries to include: Ladies Bible Class; Kings Crossing Prison Ministry; Bible Correspondence Course Grading; Visitation; Meal Preparation for Ill Members; the 49rs Fellowship & Ministry to Older Adults, etc.
Jane was a wonderfully loving and spiritually-minded Christian woman. She was a serious Bible student and enjoyed not only personal study and research but also sharing her insights with others. Jane was also an encourager of others ― always thinking of other people and actively seeking out opportunities to encourage and serve others as part of her Christian faith. She will be dearly missed by her friends, neighbors, and especially her church family at Kings Crossing.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents and by her younger sister, Lillie Kleinecke. A memorial ceremony for Jane will be held on Monday, June 1, at 1:00 p.m. at the Kings Crossing Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kings Crossing Prison Ministries.
