Gilbert R. Rivera Sr.

He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 4, 1936. Gilbert graduated from Corpus Christi College Academy in 1955.

He was married to his loving wife Petra (Pat) V. Rivera for over 59 years.

He retired from Coastal States Petrochemical after 36 years. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, golfing, Red Sox, and the Dallas Cowboys. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Austin, Texas to help with the caregiving of his beloved grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Abundio and Dolores Rivera, brother, Richard Rivera, sisters, Julia (Juan) Guerra, Lucille (John) Pappageorge, and Minerva (John) Briones.

He was survived by his wife Petra (Pat) V. Rivera, his son Gilbert Rivera Jr. and his daughter Jacqueline (Paul) Fushille. His grandchildren Eowyn and Griffin Fushille. His sister Dolores Villarreal and brother Robert (Lydia) Rivera. And numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved so much.

Funeral services will be held at Memory Gardens, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78415 on Saturday the 16th of July, 2022 at 8:00 AM, procession to Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 3502 Saratoga Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX 78415 will start at 9:10 for the rosary and mass. Then the burial will take place immediately after at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 2731 Comanche St, Corpus Christi, TX 78408.

The family requests that all who attend wear medical-grade masks and if possible be tested prior to attending. Services will be live-streamed on Memory Gardens Funeral Home Facebook page.
