Georgette Roy Cotter, 86, passed peacefully on to our Dear Lord on Friday, Feb. 02 2018, surrounded by her family. Georgette is survived by her husband, Patrick “Joe” Cotter, and her three sons: Francis Cotter (Corpus Christi, TX), Steve Cotter (Richardson, TX), Alan Cotter (Coppell, TX.), and her five grandchildren: Kevin and Alexandra Cotter (Coppell, TX), Kenneth, Christopher and Cason Cotter (Richardson, TX), along with her brother, Bertrand Roy and sisters, Monique Roy and Pauline Theriault (Canada).
Georgette was born in St. Pascal, a small town in in Quebec Province, Canada. She grew up in Canada along with her seven siblings. She received her teaching certificate (1952) and taught school in Three Rivers and Quebec City until 1958. While teaching in Quebec, she met an American serviceman and gradually became very good friends. Within two years they were married in her hometown of St. Pascal. After their marriage, Georgette immigrated to the U.S. following her husband to their new home in Caribou, Maine. In the next nine years they had three children and moved to different bases including Blytheville AR, Rome NY and Texarkana AR. After retirement from the Air Force (1975), they moved to what became their final destination and home, Corpus Christi, Texas.
Georgette was a talented artist, enjoyed art and participated in the Corpus Christi Art Association. She enjoyed traveling and spending times with her friends, family and grandchildren. She made friends at every location where they lived, and remained lifelong friends with many. While living in Corpus Christi, Georgette witnessed many happy events. She saw all of her sons get married. Two of her sons graduated from college, while the third son started his own business. Georgette visited her own parents frequently and also kept in touch with her other brothers and sisters. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018 with Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 8, 2018 at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
