Gary Jo Criswell, 67, of Robstown, Texas, passed away April 16, 2023. He was born in Lubbock, Texas on July 30, 1955 to W.B. and JoEllen Criswell. He was married to Karen Helen Pavelka Criswell on April 15, 1981. They enjoyed 42 years of married life together.
Gary was a sales representative with Becknell Wholesale for over 40 years. He was a member of the Million Dollar Sales Club for Becknell for many years. Gary truly enjoyed his job, traveling to see his customers all over South Texas.
Gary loved watching professional sports on TV, but his true love was watching his grandchildren compete in sporting events. His interests also included whatever his grandchildren were involved in, like rodeo, ballet, livestock show, etc.
Gary was passionate about BBQ, winning several BBQ cook offs. His team name was “Burning Memories” with his late friend Sonny Heaton. He then continued the tradition with his son, Brad. Gary loved his family and he loved cooking for family events. His ribs were requested most.
Gary shared a love for motorcycle cruising with his father. He visited many states and enjoyed the beauty of nature on his bike.
He is preceded in death by his mother, JoEllen Criswell.
He is survived by his father W.B. Criswell, one brother Rodney (Lyndi) Criswell, a sister Teresa (Kyle) Smith, and brother and sister in law Jerry and Beverly Pavelka. Gary and Karen had three children and seven grandchildren: Kara (Will) Petrus, Hannah and William, Tammy (Aaron) DeSpain, Walker, HunterKay, Lainey, and Brad (Leann) Criswell, Kyle and LilyAnn and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Rodney Criswell, Jerry Pavelka, Kyle Smith, Will Petrus, William Petrus, Aaron DeSpain, Walker DeSpain and Kyle Criswell.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens 8200 Old Brownsville Road Corpus Christi, TX on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service to begin at 1:00 p.m. that same afternoon. He will be laid to rest in Robstown Memorial Park.
