In Loving Memory of Estela Hernandez
March 8, 1927– April 5, 2025
It is with both heartbreak and gratitude that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother and matriarch, Estela Hernandez, Born in Laredo ,TX who went to be with her Lord and Savior on the evening of Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the beautiful age of 98.
Estela was the heart of our family—kind, strong, and endlessly loving. She lived a long and beautiful life, filled with faith, resilience, and joy. A lifelong woman of devotion, she remained steadfast in her Catholic faith and poured her heart into her family and church community.
After the passing of her beloved husband, Jose Antonio Hernandez Sr., in 1994, Grandma continued to hold the family together with unwavering grace, compassion, and quiet strength. Her home became a sanctuary for us all—a place of comfort, laughter, and tradition. The scent of homemade flour tortillas, rice, beans, and her famous fideo will forever be tied to memories of sleepovers, storytelling, and togetherness.
She taught us the importance of faith, the value of hard work, and the beauty of simple moments. Whether through her stories, her meals, or simply the way she made everyone feel at home, Grandma left a lasting mark on all of us that will never fade.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jose Antonio Hernandez Sr., her granddaughter Jennifer Delosantos, her daughter-in-law Beth (wife of Robert), her parents José Gomez Sr. and Antonia Gomez, and her siblings Juan Gomez, Jose Gomez Jr., and Elida Rodriguez.
She is survived by her five loving sons: Jose Hernandez Jr., Raul Hernandez and his wife Erma, Luis Hernandez and his wife Joann, Robert Hernandez, and Albert Hernandez. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family who were all shaped by her love, guidance, and strength.
We were blessed to have had her for so many years. As we say goodbye to this incredible woman, we rejoice knowing she is reunited with our Grandpa—dancing once again in the presence of her Savior. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she passed down, the stories she shared, and the love she gave so freely.
We will miss her deeply, but we will forever be thankful for the blessing of calling her ours.
