Ernesto Cruz Peña fought a hard fight to the very end of his life. He struggled but never lost the will to push forward. He wanted to live and enjoy life. He will be missed.
His parents, Ysidro and Concepcion Peña raised a large family.
Their sons included: Gilberto, Felipe, Hilario, Antonio, Fernando, Servando (living), Jose, Julio, and Leonardo.
Their daughters included: Osbelia, Ofelia, Maria Louisa (living), Margarita and Thomasita.
The close bond that exists and existed between them as brothers and sisters is beautiful. Their children in turn followed their example and support each other and stay connected. Seeing that made him proud to be a Peña. Ernesto missed all whom he survived.
Ernesto was devoted to his wife, Josefina, for fifty-three years. He helped care for her as she battled Alzheimer’s and was with her when she took her last breath.
Together they built a family of five children: Londie Hayes, Ernest Peña Jr., Luisa Robles(deceased), Vanessa Chapa and Edward Peña. He also helped raise grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ernesto did his best in providing for his family even sewing clothes for them when they were young. Ernesto was a very hard working man. He provided for his family in many ways from working in the oil fields to operating equipment. Even after he retired he helped build a twenty foot tall work shop. He helped gut and remodel two homes for two of his grandchildren. He helped friends add on porches and put up fencing. He was generous with his time and energy. He was loyal.
Later in life, Ernesto, decided he wanted to work for his God, Jehovah. He found the benefits to be like no other. He became part of another loving and supportive family. He enjoyed telling others about a better future under the rule of Christ.
Where the wicked will no more. Where only righteousness and peace will rule. And where the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing. All on this beautiful gift of earth he so perfectly designed for his creation.
Ernesto will always be remembered and not forgotten.
His family will follow his lead. While waiting for the time when Jehovah will return him back to them.
Services are entrusted to Funeraria Del Angel-Everhart, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411.
