Enrique Martinez Sr., age 66, was called home to our Heavenly Father on March 21, 2012. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 21, 1945 to Josefa H. Martinez and Hipolito Martinez Sr. He was a great husband, father, and in particular the best grandfather in the world. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church for the past 20 years and previously at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 10 years. He served his country in Vietnam as a Marine and is a retired CCAD employee. As a retiree Enrique spent every possible moment expressing his great love to his wife Enedina, building memories that will be cherished by his family and loved ones. For all of us fortunate to have known him, we all knew he was a loving, caring man with a good heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and he will always live in our hearts.
His grandchildren would say he was more of a hero to them than Captain America. His unconditional love for his family was amazing. He showed his children and grandchildren the importance of family, respect and love. In his spare time he enjoyed reading comic books, working on his home and had a passion for computers.
He is preceded in death by his parents Hipolito and Josefa H. Martinez Sr. , brothers Hector and Ernesto Martinez, sisters Elena Lopez and Gregoria Pena.
He will be remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 41 years Enedina R. Martinez, son Enrique (Yolanda) Martinez Jr., daughter Elvira Martinez, and son Rolando Mendoza. He was blessed with four grandchildren Enrique III, Valarie, Bianca, and Alejandro. He is also survived by brothers: Hipolito Martinez Jr. and Jose Martinez, sisters: Marylou (Jessie) Uvalle, Rosalinda Lucio, F. Gracie (Reynaldo) Chavez, Janie Casiano and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2012 with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., at Cage Mills Funeral Home located at 4901 Everhart Rd.
A Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be conducted at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 3350 S. Alameda at 9:30 a.m. on Monday March 26, 2012 followed by a Christian Burial at Memory Gardens.
