Emilio H. Sanchez, Sr., 76, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 1, 1936 to Cruz Sanchez and Agustina Rodriguez Sanchez in San Diego, Texas. Emilio proudly served our country in the United States Army as a Specialist 4th class. After the service Emilio worked for over 24 years in the warehouse for Koch Refinery. Throughout his lifetime he also trained boxers for over 40 years at the Corpus Christi Boys Club and was honored for his dedication at the Corpus Christi Boxing Hall of Fame. Emilio loved the song “I Did It My Way” and that, he sure did. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Guadalupe Sanchez and sisters, Baudelia Sanchez and Lorenza Martinez. Emilio is survived by his loving wife, Soila Reyes Sanchez; sons, Emilio H. (Sylvia) Sanchez, Jr. and Carlos A. (Laura) Sanchez; daughter, Karen (Danny) Lerma all of Corpus Christi, TX; brother, Cruz A. Sanchez of Calallen, TX; sister, Olivia (Bernie, Sr.) Dean of Sandia, TX; five grandsons, John A. Lerma, Justin Daniel Lerma, Jarrod Michael Lerma, Emilio H. “Trey” Sanchez, III and Oscar A. Sanchez; two granddaughters, Tabitha “Tabby” Sanchez and Cathy Lerma and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who will
all miss him dearly.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be John A. Lerma, Justin D. Lerma, Jarrod M. Lerma, Emilio H. “Trey” Sanchez, III, Lupe Sanchez, David Sanchez, Rogelio Reyes, Jr., and Danny Ramirez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar A. Sanchez, Tommy McWha, and Lupe Suarez.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly in Corpus Christi, Texas with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. Burial will follow at the Costal Bend State Veteran’s Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
