Emilia Martinez Saenz

Emilia Martinez Saenz was called home by our Lord on March 6, 2022 at the age of 79. She was born to Gregorio and Vidala Martinez of Driscoll, TX on January 5, 1943. Emilia and her siblings grew up and went to school in Driscoll and spent the summers of their early years picking cotton.

Emilia met the love of her life, Roberto S. Saenz, and married him at the age of 28. She was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and also provided care for other neighborhood children throughout the years. Emilia loved shopping, attending family gatherings, and solving daily crossword puzzles, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Emilia lived a long and fulfilling life.

She is preceded in death by Roberto S. Saenz, her husband of 38 years; father, Gregorio Martinez, mother, Vidala Villarreal Martinez; brothers, Mario and Adolfo Martinez and sister, Maria Gonzalez.

She is survived by her son, Roberto (Anna) Saenz Jr. of Orange Grove, TX; daughter, Ermelinda (Wally) Garza of Tilden, TX; grandchildren, Christian Noah Garza of Corpus Christi, TX, Rhea Danyelle Garza of Tilden, TX, and Robert (Trey) Saenz III of Orange Grove, TX; brother, Merced (Maria Dalia) Martinez of Driscoll, TX; sisters, Rosa Becho of San Antonio, TX, Elena Portillo of Flint, MI, Eva (Enrique) Delgado of Bishop, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

We would love to give a very special thank you to her grandson, Christian Garza. He lived and cared for his grandmother for the last 5 1/2 years. He took her to her doctor appointments, shopping, family gatherings, and helped her with anything she needed. Emilia will be truly missed by all who loved her.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria del Angel, 549 Cheyenne St., on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 pm that same evening. A Chapel Service will be held at Funeraria del Angel, 549 Cheyenne St., on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
