Elnora married Henry L. Slanina in 1926 and they moved to Corpus Christi in the 1940s. Though she had no children, she was “Auntie” to numerous nieces and nephews who experienced her love and generosity. Elnora was a strong independent woman who loved traveling, fishing, holidays and all joyous occasions. She was a great cook, and was known for her homemade pickles and jellies. For over 50 years, Elnora was active in the Christ Lutheran Church congregation and, more recently, was a member of Galilean Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry L. Slanina; her parents, William and Ida Kerlick; her brothers, Ernest, Edwin, Vernon, and Anton; her sister, Josephine Boysen; her nephews, Sammy Boysen, Sonny Kerlick, and Mike Buttler; and a niece, Brenda Miestrell.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Annie Kerlick Doman, and four nieces, Bettie Jo Buttler, Lynn Highley, Shirley Jendrzey, and Barbara Kerlick, and subsequent generations.
Pallbearers will be Joe Buttler, Ernie Buttler, Tim Buttler, Jimmy Ousley and Scott Highley.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors. The Funeral Service will be on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors Chapel with interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
