Elizabeth Ramirez, 82, well known to her family and friends as Chavela, was born in Sonora, Texas on November 4th, 1930 and resided in Corpus Christi, Texas. Chavela passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 5th, 2012 after a brief illness.
Chavela was preceded in death by her parents Ysabel and Sara Flores; Brother Armando Flores.
Chavela was known to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who overcame any difficult obstacles in her life with such great strength and endurance with her faith in God along with her wooden cross.
Her memory will be carried on by her loving husband of 63 years Hilario L. Ramirez; daughters, Mary Cardona of George West, Texas, Patsy (Olbedo) Trejo and Norma (Fabian) Longoria; sons, Hilario F. (Rosie) Ramirez and Robert Ramirez all from Corpus Christi, Texas. She is also survived by her sisters, Gloria Ortiz, Lucy (Henry) Sendejo and Estella (Emilio) Jimenez.
Grandma Ramirez was a beautiful, petite, walking Giant in the eyes of her 22 grandchildren. They enjoyed her laughter, kindness, gentleness, warmth and love that only comes from a grandmother. Chavela was also blessed with 18 great grandchildren who felt her love, strength and touch that will never end.
Chavela’s family would like to express special appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Espina who cared for her for over 30 years. In her final days, Angel Bright Hospice helped her and her family to wipe away tears, pain, and fears until God wrapped her in His arms to take her home on Monday, November 5, 2012.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Cage Mills Funeral Directors. A Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
