Elda G. Rodriguez

She was born to Ruperto Garza and Baudelia Garza on January 4, 1933 in Benavides, Texas. She married at a young age and had 8 children; she raised them in Hart Texas, before moving to Corpus Christi, Texas. She worked for Maverick Markets for over 10 years, then moved to Alice, Texas in 1982, where she then cared for her father and mother. She continued to care for her family, she loved to dance, gardening, and loved cooking for her family, especially on holidays, and she loved hearing and telling jokes.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruperto Garza, and Baudelia S. Garza; daughter, Dolores E. Gonzales; and 2 grandsons, Orlando Rodriguez, and David E. Gaona. She was the last of six children, Ruperto Garza Jr, Estella Vera, Ernestina Zamora, Olga Molina, and Ruben Garza.

She is survived by seven of her children, Jessie Rodriguez (Nena), Esperanza (Hope) Gonzales, Dora Rodriguez (Jose), Alfredo Rodriguez, Margret Acosta (Robert), Rose Gaona (Edmundo), Samuel Rodriguez (Diana); 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Jennifer Gaona for making sure her grandma was cared for the last 3 months of her life in San Antonio. A very special thank you to The Medical Team Hospice for giving Elda comfort and the picture perfect hospice ending she truly deserved.

A visitation for Elda will be held Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A holy rosary will occur Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 7:00 PM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 24, 2022 at 10:00 AM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. An interment will occur Monday, October 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415.
