Eduardo "Eddie" Mendiola

He was a graduate of Mary Carroll High School. He worked in the oilfield for numerous years and then went on to work for the Corpus Christi Army Depot. He became a Pastor, ministering to and teaching at several local churches. He served the longest at Southcrest Baptist Church, alongside his longtime pastor and friend, brother Buddy Murphrey, who went to be with the Lord in 2021. He also went on several Missionary trips to Mexico. Eddie’s passion in life was studying, teaching and preaching God’s Word. His zeal for searching God’s footprints, whether it be in the scriptures, science, history, wildlife, sea life, or books was an unrelenting obsession. His faith and dedication to his God, family, and friends was truly inspiring. He never thought twice about helping someone in need and was always generous with his time and money.

Eddie was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jose Angel Mendiola and Nazaria “Chala” Mendiola; and his son, Jeremiah Isaiah Mendiola.

Left to cherish Eddie’s memory are his loving wife, Sherry Mendiola; children, Tabitha and Allan Ore, Elijah and Yvette Mendiola, Sarah and Rudy Serrano, Joshua Spanutius, Micah Spanutius and Savanah Spanutius; grandchildren, Angelica, Allan Jr., Jonathan, Ezekiel, Jayden, Aaron, Eliza, Jacob, Amber, Isaak, Ethan, Joey, Raylynn, Isabella, Carlos and Christopher; great-granddaughter, Aaliyah; brothers and sisters, Hilda (Douglas) Breden, Alice Perez, Mary Lou (Henry) Campos, Susan Padron, Joe Jr. (Yolanda) Mendiola, Belinda (Romeo) Perez, David (Karyn) Mendiola, Lydia Mendiola, and Daniel (Amy) Mendiola; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A public visitation for Eduardo will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A prayer service will occur Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 6:00 PM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. An interment will occur Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 2:15 PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415.
