Dorothy Jean Marshall, 96, of Corpus Christi Texas, passed away on October 24, 2023. Dorothy was born in Wynnewood, Oklahoma on 2/27/1927 at her Grannie Smith's house. She spent most of her life in Corpus Christi, Texas married to Gordon Marshall. Dorothy grew up in a Texas Orphanage in Corsicana, Texas, with 3 of her siblings until she graduated from High School. Dorothy moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, after graduation, met and married Gordon Marshall, and lived at their home on Bernice for the last 70 years. She loved that home so much, she and Gordon worked so hard for it. Always room for family and great chicken fried steak, with gravy or waffles and breakfast cinnamon toast.
Dorothy leaves a legacy behind of a genuinely funny, strong-willed, honest, and hard-working woman. After working at NAS Credit Union and then retiring, she volunteered at Spohn Hospital South in the Gift Shop for several years. Dorothy overcame hardships and obstacles in her life giving her entire family the inspiration to become anything they wanted. Dorothy and Gordon, took in her other siblings, as they graduated from the orphanage until they were settled. Dorothy never turned away her family, from brothers and sister to almost all her grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Marshall (1989); her Son, Samuel Marshall; son-in-law, Tyrone Looper; sister, M. Jo Miete; brothers, Marcus E Smith, William J. Smith; great-grandson, Zach Aubut, and her sister from another mother, Vera Flentge (best friend from the orphanage), all in heaven along with all her ancestors. We Love you Grannie. You will be dearly missed and loved forever. Fly with the Angels
