Donald King Rogers was born January 3, 1954, to Kight and Teddy Rogers, and died March 20, 2023 at his home, both in Corpus Christi, TX. Don was in the 1972 class of King High School, and then joined the Army where he proudly served for 2 years, most of his service was in Germany. Following an Honorable Discharge from the Army, Don moved back to his hometown of Corpus Christi, TX.
Don was mentored by his then father in law, Jake Powers, and entered the oilfield industry. He built a successful sales career working in the Corpus Christi area and the Valley where he took full advantage of the Gulf of Mexico, fishing and boating. He also began his love of golf during the years in South Texas. In 1990 he was relocated to The Woodlands with Daily Oil Tools, and continued his sales career with various oilfield companies and products. While there he was able to further enjoy his love of golf, entertaining customers and playing with friends and family on the wonderful courses there. Don was an avid traveler and was fortunate enough to enjoy many worldwide trips with his family and friends. Don retired in 2019 following a cancer diagnosis, and moved back to Corpus Christi.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Barbara Turner, his step brother Ted Rogers, and his step mother Georgia Davis. He is survived by four children, Cassie Stirman (Jason), Christina Massey (Mike), Drew Rogers (Cassie), and Lauren Rogers, grandchildren Cadence Stirman, Greenley Stirman, Cru Stirman, Audrey Massey, Finley Massey, and Daxton Rogers. Also left to cherish his memory are a sister, Martha Oman, a brother John Rogers, step sisters Mary Harris and Elsie McNeeley, his Uncle Don and Aunt Beverly Matthews, and many nephews and nieces.
Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on May 26, 2023 at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37, Corpus Christi, TX 78409.
