Donald DeWitt Flint, devoted husband, brother, patriot, and friend passed peacefully at his Corpus Christi home on Thursday, July 27, 2023. He was 78 years old. Don and his precious wife, Wendy whom he loved for 40 years, have been active citizens in the Corpus Christi community since the 1980’s.
Don was born on April 25, 1945, to Willian Everts Flint and Bobbie Lee Flint in West Hartford, Connecticut. The family moved to Corpus Christi in 1946. Subsequently, Don graduated from W. B. Ray High School, Class of 1963. After graduation and working several jobs, Don joined the United States Army in the late 1960’s and served as a Chaplin Assistant while stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam. Upon separation from the military, he attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Radio-Television-film in 1971. Upon graduation, he moved to Avada, Colorado to help with the family business. He then moved to Houston where he met his wife, Wendy. Soon after, they found themselves in Corpus Christi where Don launched himself into a career of retail sales in various businesses. Don served as President of the Coastal Bend Mustang Club. He also was a past member of the Sunrise Rotary Club, Honda Goldwing Motorcycle Club, and Padre Island Country Club. Don loved his recording studio and being involved in his church. He served as a Deacon at Southside Community Church for many years involved in sound and video projection systems. He leaves behind his wife Wendy, one sister Jean Flint Cotten, numerous nephews and nieces, and three beloved dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bobbie Flint and sister Janet Lee Flint Mentgen. The family would like to thank Morgan Baldridge, Marc Carter and his wife Pam Fisher, and Nurses on Wheels for their loving care they provided Don during his illness.
Visitation will be Friday, 4 August 2023, 5:00 to 9:00 pm at the Funeraria Del Angel, 4901 Everhart Road Corpus Christi, TX 78411.
The Memorial Service will be at Southside Community Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, 5 August , 2023, 3346 Airline Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78414
Burial will be at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 9 August 2023, 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78410
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Donald Flint to Southside Community Church or a Christian charity of your choice.
