Dolores Soliz Torres1946-2024. Dolores was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1948 to Pablo T. Soliz and Geronima G. Soliz. Dolores passed away suddenly on May 24, 2024. She graduated from Pan American High School in Kingsville, Texas in 1965 and earned a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in History from Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas. After graduation, Dolores joined the staff at Pan American High School where she taught Home Economics. She married Abraham Torres in 1968 who was also part of the faculty at Pan American High School. In the early 1970’s, she joined her husband and moved to Austin, Texas where he was pursuing his graduate studies. Dolores was hired by AISD where she taught Texas History. In 1980, she had her first child, Martha Rebeca Torres who now lives in Corpus Christi. In 1985, she had her second child Andrės Abraham Torres (married to Robyn Donell Torres) who live in San Antonio. In 2020, Dolores retired from teaching from Robstown ISD where she taught at the alternative high school. Dolores was preceded in death by Paul Soliz, Jr. (brother and married to Elma Soliz) and Beatrice G. Soliz who passed away on May 6, 2024. Surviving siblings include Teresa (Terry) Estrada (sister and married to Larry Estrada) who live in C.C, and Ricardo G. Soliz from Austin, Texas. Dolores enjoyed traveling, watching the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren: Gabriella (Gabby) Rebeca Torres and Nathanael Allen Torres. Dolores was one to always help those in need, whether it was her family or friends. She had a huge heart, and it was important to check on her family on a weekly basis. Once a month she went to the Food Bank to pick up food for her family and friends. She was there to help others first before serving herself. She will be greatly missed. The family will hold a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Trinity Our Savior Lutheran Church at 808 Louisiana Ave. in Corpus Christi followed by a grave side gathering and service at Rose Hill Memorial Cemetery, 2731 Comanche Street at 2:30 p.m.
