Diana S. Reyes, 69, a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away on January 31, 2022, with her son by her side. After 48 years of hospital service, Diana was retired as a unit clerk from Christus Spohn Hospital. Diana was a proud single mother to her son. She was strong, independent, and always helped others. Diana loved and cared for her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. She loved to cook and bake, as memorialized on her Facebook page, for all to see what she was whipping up that day. Her tamales were a particular favorite and always the star of the show. Diana enjoyed DIY projects, keeping a tailored yard, watching cooking shows, The Voice, and the “Cowgirls” lose. She very much delighted in teasing all Cowboy fans. Diana was expressive, straightforward, and “colorful” with her words, which often initially shocked others but then drew immediate laughter because one only had to remember that they were talking to Diana. She was a strong supporter of our military, especially the U.S. Marine Corps, despite her son being in the Army. Simply put, she would say she just liked them more, and “well, he should have joined the Marines then.” Diana was beloved by many, and her physical presence will be greatly missed.
Diana is survived by her son, Javier E. Coronado (Angelica), siblings Raymond Reyes Jr. (Adalia), sister Irma Reyes-Castillo (Joe), and Gerardo “Marty” Reyes, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, friends, and her adored grand-doggies, Major and Bella.
Diana is preceded in death by her mother, Felicitas S. Reyes, father, Ramon O. Reyes, brother, Arturo Gomez, sisters Juana “Olga” Castillo, Belinda A. Reyes, and Graciela Reyes, her beloved chihuahua, Princess, and grand-doggies, Ozzy and Rocky.
