Daniel Salinas, 70, born on May 10, 1946, in Corpus Christi, TX was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at his side. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend.
Daniel served in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 19 where he proudly served two enlistments, 1966 to 1971 with two tours in Vietnam. After his military service he worked at the ARADMAC on board NAS Corpus Christi. In 1972 he moved his family to California City, CA where he worked for U.S. Borax for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maria and Alfredo Salinas, Sr., his brother, Ernesto Salinas and sister, Matilda Salinas.
Daniel leaves to cherish his memories; his loving wife of 50 ½ years Josephine Perez Salinas, his children, Sally Ann Mills (Scott) of Lancaster, CA; Daniel Salinas, II of Bakersfield, CA; Eric Salinas and Joey Salinas of Corpus Christi, TX; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He is also survived by his brothers Fred Salinas, Jr. and Jaime Salinas (Delia) of Corpus Christi, TX; his sisters, Anna Madrigal (Leon) of Amarillo, TX; Rebecca Anaya (J.R.) of Lubbock, TX; Christina Perez (Frank); Amelia Cervantes (Rene) and Irma Salinas all from Corpus Christi, TX as well as his nieces and nephews.
Even though Daniel resided in California for over 35 years, he was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan. He enjoyed watching boxing, football as well as gold mining in the Mojave Desert. Before his illness Daniel was a member of the Kern County Search and Rescue as a LT. with the Sheriff’s Department in California City, CA.
Public visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2016 with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
