Carlos R. Escamilla, Sr. was called home by our Heavenly Father on May 12, 2012. He was 89 years old. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family who love him dearly. Carlos was born in Runge, Texas on July 5, 1922. He was born to Juan and Refugia (Rodriguez) Escamilla. He was employed with the City of Corpus Christi Street Dept. for 40 years and retired as a Senior Foreman. Carlos was an active member of Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church for many years he also served as an Usher at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church until his health prevailed. He joined the U.S. Army during World II. Carlos was a very loving, caring husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather,
great-great-grandfather and friend to all whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Refugia Escamilla, his loving wife of 61 years and mother of his 11 children, Generosa Escamilla, his 2 daughters Raquel Escamilla and Angelica (Escamilla) Winch, 2 granddaughters, Lauren Elizabeth Moreno and Jenilee Rodriguez, and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by one sister Modesta Garcia of Houston, Texas, his 8 daughters; Diana Escamilla, Sandra Escamilla, Patty (David Zapata) Hernandez, Generosa (Rogelio) Quiroga, Guadalupe Feregrino of Corpus Christi, TX, Isabel (Jacob) Pena, Emilia (Ben) Peterson of Joplin MO, Suzanne (Librado) Garza of Ben Bolt, TX, 2 sons; Carlos, Jr. (Nellie) Escamilla of Corpus Christi, TX, Antonio (Nellie Hernandez) Escamilla of Granado, TX, 33 grandchildren, 29 great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Family will be receiving friends and loved ones on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 4:00 pm. to 9:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne Street, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
A life celebration will be celebrated on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Pilar Church with Msgr. Marcos Martinez as celebrant. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
