Betty I. Major

Betty was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, to James “Roby” Roberts, Jr. and LaVerne Shaw (Price) on August 26, 1952. She married Larry Major on July 4, 1999 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Betty worked as a nurse for more than 30 years, touching the lives of so many during the course of her career.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, James Roberts, Jr. and Laverne Shaw (Price).

She is survived by her husband, Larry Major of Corpus Christi, Texas; her 6 children and their spouses, Tammy and Dennis Gallagher of Argyle, Texas, Michael and Patricia Goldapp of Corpus Christi, Texas, Travis and Athena Goldapp of Corpus Christi, Texas, Randy and Karen Major of Calallen, Texas, Kimberly Phillips of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Michelle Major of Corpus Christi, Texas; her sisters, Roby Parker of Wade, Mississippi, Margie Ward of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and Jeri “Dink”Wilder of Mobile, Alabama; and her 11 grandchildren, Camryn McLaughlin, Taylor Gallagher, Annelies Gallagher, Mason Goldapp, Miranda Goldapp, Jaimie Gonzales, Ethan Goldapp, Bethany Goldapp, Weston Major, Marshall Major, and Brennan Riley.

Our family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Nuero ICU team at University Hospital San Antonio for the excellent care they provided both to Betty and to all of us during her 2 week stay.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Corpus Christi Texas, and will be followed by a gathering of friends and family at her son’s home.
