Barbara Jean Nesbitt was born to John Richardson and Alversie Thompson on May 20, 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was one of twelve children. She attended public schools in Corpus Christi and was a lifelong member of the Saint John First Baptist Church under the pastorage of Reverend William L. Pullam.
Barbara was a representation of love and joy, greeting everyone with a smile and heart-filled laughter, never departing without saying “love you”. She loved cooking, going out to eat, and especially shopping. She always had a heart for family, rearing some of her siblings and extended family all with grace and joy. Her legacy to the family is her enduring strength and love from her heart. Attributes that will inspire her family for years to come.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, John Richardson; mother, Alversie Thompson; sisters, Alice Ann Thompson, Betty Rae Wallace, Rose Mary Thompson-Grady, Brenda Diane Thompson, Marion Lucille Hubbard; and brothers, Warren Nathaniel Thompson, Mansfield Thompson, Jr., Elmo Richardson, and David Richardson.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories her daughter, Monica R. McCoy (Wil, Live Oak, Texas); grandchildren, Quanshaee L. Beasley (San Antonio, Texas) and Quamane R. Stewart (Katherine; Grand Rapids, Michigan); and great-grandchild, Zayden A. Stewart; sisters, Stella Faye Haven, Gloria Jean Richardson, Lillie Mae Richardson, and Michelle Richardson; brothers, John Richardson, James Richardson (Carolyn), Jerry Richardson, and Thurman Thompson (Felicia); along with niece, Jacqueline Johnson; and host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Memory Gardens Home Funeral and Cemetery.
