Aurora Cavazos, age 79, of Corpus Christi, Texas entered Heaven's gates on Monday, September 18, 2023. Aurora was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was one of thirteen children to the late Guadalupe and Herlinda Salazar.
In 1964, she married the love of her life, and longtime family friend, Bruno G. Cavazos and together they celebrated 47 wedding anniversaries, until his passing in 2011. Bruno and Aurora were blessed with three wonderful children, Melissa, Bruno and Melinda.
Aurora was admired for her inner and outer beauty, loving spirit, caring soul and her generosity. She was the pillar of her beloved family and adored by her children and grandchildren. She was strong and independent and a woman of few words, but when she did give her opinion and advice it was admired and respected. She was a devout catholic and instilled her faith to her family. She had several pastimes that included cooking, especially making her infamous Carne Al Pastor or teaching her grandchildren how to perfect her salsa. She loved to watch the food network and the ever hilarious, Steve Harvey. However, her ultimate hobby was spending time with her family. Aurora leaves many cherished memories and will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and friends.
Aurora was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed and will always be cherished by her children, Melissa Adames(Samuel), Bruno Cavazos III, and Melinda Garcia(Adam); Grandchildren, Savannah Castro(James), Amanda Alvarez(Albert), George Castro Jr.(Elise), Selina Castro(Michael), Kristen Cavazos, Bruno Cavazos IV, Adam Ryan Garcia, and Andrew Garcia; Great-Grandchildren, Ariel, Jazlene, Elliot, James Jr., Briella, Jordan, and Khaleesi; brothers and sisters, Sylvia Ramirez(Ernesto), Guadalupe Salazar Jr.(Amparo), Elda Rivera, Elva Gonzalez(Catarino), Ruben Salazar, and Linda James(Luis), Roberto Salazar, Gracie Davila and Diana Castillo, along with various extended family and friends.
Loved ones that cleared the path for Aurora are her beloved husband, Bruno G. Cavazos; parents, Guadalupe and Herlinda Salazar; brother, Juan Salazar; sisters, Delia Lozano, and Virginia Buentello.
A visitation for Aurora will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly from 5:00PM to 9:00PM with a Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 8:30AM before departing to St. Cyril Catholic Church for her Funeral Mass at 10:00AM. Her burial is scheduled to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
