Delia is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Jenkins; father, Eliseo Ortega; brother, Eliseo Ortega, Jr.; grandson, Roland Ray Ramos and great-grandson, Benjamin Resendez. She is survived by her life partner, James Sarafin; mother, Lucilla G. Ortega; her 5 children, Robert Mechell Jr. (Helen), Edward Mechell (Tammy), Edmond Mechell (Melissa), Darryl Mechell (Grace), and Maralene Mechell (Luis). She is also survived by her sister, Alicia Hudson (Jerry); brother, Rene Ortega (Melissa); 7 nephews; 3 nieces; 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Delia was born on December 16, 1943 to parents Lucilla and Eliseo Ortega in Bishop, Texas. Delia worked as a supervisor and ran the assembly line at Lamda Semi Conductors for 25 years. She then opened her very own Texas Bar in 1996 which she owned and operated for 13 years. Delia was always the life of the party and boy did she love her Dallas Cowboys!
A woman of faith, Delia was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church for 25 years. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing in her backyard, and hunting with her sons at the ranch. When she wasn’t reading romance novels, she was hosting her family to BBQs on the lake, watching her children and grandchildren play pool on her deck, and listening to music. Delia was happiest when surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She enjoyed life to the fullest and she will be incredibly missed by all.
The family would like to sincerely thank Serenity Grace Hospice for their care and attention to Delia in her final days. A special thanks also to Tammy Lazcano who also assisted in caring for Delia 3 times a week, not including her personal time.
