Ascencion Lopez

Ascencion "Chon" Lopez of Robstown, TX, entered eternal rest on August 6, 2023, after a short fight with cancer at age 68. Ascencion was born February 4, 1955, in Robstown, Texas, to Andres and (late) Cirilda Lopez. He resided in Corpus Christi, Texas all of his life. Ascencion was a hardworking, strong-willed, and stern but humorous man. He was well-known for his hilarious, witty one-liners and a smile with adorable, chiseled dimples. He lived his life with passion and devotion to his family, and he was always there for those who needed him. He was a devout catholic, a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Church in Corpus Christi, Texas, and a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus.

Ascencion Lopez was a man of God, loved by all and respected by many. He was a faithful, loving husband, beloved father, and cherished friend. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife, Irma lopez, and his three children, Ascencion Lopez Jr, Tomas Lopez, and Jerry Lee Lopez. He was blessed with six grandchildren, Bianca, Vanessa, Layla, Tomas Jr., Madilyn, and Lilly Lopez; two great-grandchildren, Zayne Lopez and Pheonix Reyes; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Andres Lopez, Jr., Reyes Lopez, Ascencion Lopez Jr., Tomas Lopez, Jerry Lee Lopez, and Tomas Lopez Jr.

A public visitation for Ascencion will be held Sunday, August 13, 2023, at 5:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A holy rosary will occur Sunday, August 13, 2023, at 7:00 PM, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A public visitation will occur Monday, August 14, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 540 Hiawatha St, Corpus Christi, Texas 78405. A funeral mass will occur Monday, August 14, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 540 Hiawatha St, Corpus Christi, Texas 78405. An interment will occur Monday, August 14, 2023, at 11:15 AM at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Celebration of life reception will be held at Themed Events-N-More on August 14, 2023, at 4701 Ayers Ste. 304 Corpus Christi, Texas78415 from 12: 30 to 3:30 PM.

The family wants to give Ascencion the memorial he deserves, to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes. The family is requesting donations to help cover the cost of Ascension's funeral and medical expenses. Anything you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
