She was born in Elgin, TX on May 29, 1919 and was a longtime resident of Corpus Christi TX, who Lived to the graceful age of 101.
Ascension was a retiree of JCPenney's company of 35 years who she worked with diligently to help support her family in the previous years. After retiring she worked for several years at the Nueces County Community Action Agency under the Head Start Program and later at the Greenwood Senior Citizens center.
Although she never married or had children of her own, she played a significant role in raising her niece, Ernestina Segura. Ascension who was also known as “Aunt Chacha” was devoted to her family and always supported those dear to her.
Her hobby of making floral arrangements for every family occasion whether it be for a wedding, or baby shower was one of her true passions. Her love of reading, the importance of having a good education and always attending church every Sunday were top priorities to her. She always reminded her family and friends of how important it was to have God in their lives by examples she gave in demonstrating her faith.
She is survived by her numerous nieces and nephews of whom she loved and cared for.
Ascension is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Sotera Garcia; her sisters, Simona G. Cruz (Felipe), Anna Garcia; her brothers, Matias Garcia (Mary), Francisco Garcia Jr. (Maria) and Jose Primo Garcia (Janie).
Visitation will be held on October 6, 2020 at 11:30 am at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne St. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 1:00 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales St. with Funeral Mass at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 2731 Comanche St.
