Arthur Rodriguez Gonzalez

Arthur “Speedy” R. Gonzalez passed away peacefully on November 18, 2022 at the age of 87. He was born on July 04, 1935 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Brigido and Felipa Gonzalez. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He graduated from WB Ray High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a meat cutter for Bealls Grocery, Thrift Tex and HEB Grocery for more than 40 years. He then continued at the Corpus Christi Caller Times as a Commercial Newspaper Carrier for 17 years before retiring.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Dad had a great sense of humor, he was a loving and knew no strangers. He was our “SUPERMAN”. He will be remembered for being an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, reading, number puzzles, listening to the oldies, poker, dominoes and spending time with friends and family.

He is reunited with his parents, siblings, in-laws and the love of his life of 56 years Maria O. Gonzalez.

Arthur leaves his loving memories to his children, Karen Anne (Jesse) Garcia, Teresa Lin Gonzalez, Criselda “Chrissy” Ann Gonzalez, Arthur Gonzalez Jr. (Rosie Gutierrez), Anna Alicia Gonzalez, Christian Pelkonen (Ignaty); grandchildren, Jesse (Jackie) Garcia Jr., Amanda (Brannon) Sledge, Carolyna (Roland) Soliz, April Melendez, Amber “Amy” Melendez, J.J. Melendez, A.C. Gonzalez, Alex Gonzalez; 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister-in-laws, and a brother-in-law whom he loved dearly.

A public visitation for Arthur will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 5:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A holy rosary will occur Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 7:00 PM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 9:00 AM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. An interment will occur Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, Texas.
