He retired from his position as a State Park Ranger for Texas State Parks and Wildlife at Mustang Island, after a 32 year period of service. For the last 20 years, he also continued to simultaneously work part time at Whataburger. He loved the beach and had a passion for fishing. He loved football and his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Armando also had a talent for taking washed up driftwood and turning them into beautiful walking sticks. He was a devoted Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6280. Armando was also proud to be a member of his small church group, the Soldiers of Christ. He will be missed and all who knew him, will never forget his humble attitude and his friendly smile.
Armando is survived by his children, Star (Rene) Garza from Corpus Christi, TX, Armando T. Alvarez, Jr.(Nancy) from Tulsa, OK, and Connie Alvarez from Victoria, TX. He is also survived by his siblings, Alberto Alvarez, Adolfo Alvarez, Eugenio Alvarez, Juan Alvarez, Susanna Alvarez, and Joe Alvarez.
Armando had 8 Grandchildren, and 11 Great Grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Friday May 29, 2020 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday May 30, 2020 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help,5830 Williams Drive, Corpus Christi, TX 78412 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery.
