

He was born in Falfurrias, Texas on January 21, 1933 to James and Mary Helen Lackey.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James Thomas and William Wallace Lackey.
Jack began his career with Reynolds Metals Company at the San Patricio Reduction Plant, where he served as a guard and medical technician ambulance driver. He transferred to Reynolds Alumina Division and worked for many years as a quality control laboratory technician/analyst. He transferred to the technical department and served as an environmental technician. He earned a degree in chemical engineering and eventually led the production engineering department at the Sherwin Alumina Plant at Gregory, Texas. In 1983 he transferred to Reynolds International’s Worsley Alumina Project at Perth Australia, where he worked on design and start up of the New Worsley Alumina Refinery. Once Worsley was up and running he transferred back to Sherwin Alumina where he led the production engineering department until his retirement.
Jack served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Jackson Woods Presbyterian Church in Calallen and the Ingleside VFW.
He leaves behind his family to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Mary Lackey; one son, John (Julie) Lackey of Corpus Christi; one daughter, Jacquelynn (Martin) Dillon of Bunbury, Australia; three grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan Lackey and Brady Dillon; two sisters, Mary Helen Stiles of San Antonio, Texas and Betty Lee Murray of St. Louis, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
Graveside services will take place on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
