Amelia was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 7,1925 to her late parents, Miguel Godoy, and Guadalupe Moreno Godoy. She retired from Memorial Hospital after 33yrs of service in 1986.
She was a kind, thoughtful, loving and a strong woman of faith. There was not a day that passed that she did not miss praying her rosary. It did not matter how late it was she would grab her rosary and pray. She prayed for everyone. Amelia never forgot anyone’s birthday. She not only remembered her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, but all her siblings, relatives, and many others until the very end. She was a giving person and would give you what she had even if it meant she would go without.
She enjoyed playing bingo, completing crossword puzzles, reading, and putting puzzles together with her great grandchildren. Amelia was happiest being around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to visits and calls. Amelia never met a stranger and made a heartfelt impact on so many people she met along her journey here on earth. She was loved by many and was considered a “2nd Mom and Grandmom.” Her love for dance and music was something she loved until the very end. She and her beloved late husband Adan enjoyed going to dances and listening to her sons and grandsons play drums with various bands.
Our family will carry her gentle selflessness, patience, and love for everyone in our hearts. We pray we exemplify a small part of what a beautiful precious soul our mother was. We will miss hearing every day I love you and God Bless you. But we know if we close our eyes, we will hear those loving words from our wonderful, beautiful mother.
Amelia is joined now in heaven by her parents, Miguel, and Guadalupe Godoy, her beloved husband of 66 ½ years Adan F. Rangel Sr, daughter in law Sun-Ok (Sunny) Rangel, and granddaughter Maegan Ryan Rangel. She was the last survivor of her family consisting of 6 sisters, 4 brothers, 6 half-brothers and 3 half-sisters.
She leaves behind 7 children: Adan F. Rangel Jr (late wife Sunny), of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Rudy G Rangel (Esmeralda), of Corpus Christi, Texas, Linda A Lopez (Gilbert), League City, Texas, Randy G. Rangel (Cindy), of Corpus Christi, Texas, Roger S. Rangel (Leticia) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Laura A Rangel-Leal (Robert), of La Porte, Texas, and Ramsey L.
