Amanda V. Oliva

Amanda V. Oliva, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 after a long illness. She was born September 13, 1929 to Juan and Antonia Vega in Realitos, Texas. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Amanda worked in the hotel industry working for the Sheraton Marina Hotel for 25 years. She also worked for Corpus Christi State School in the Senior Grandparent Program for 7 years. She will be remembered for her commitment to working, her giving heart and care for the children at W. B. Travis Elementary and T.G. Allen Elementary schools. She enjoyed gardening in her backyard, loved nature and praying the Rosary and praying for others. She especially loved expressing her devotion to her family and grandchildren.

Amanda is preceded in death by her husband, Cristobal Oliva; her parents, Juan and Antonia Vega and one grandson, Raul Silva III and her two great-grandsons, Jaden Alexander Silva and Lucio Christoval Martinez.

She is survived by her children Beatrice (Joe) Salazar, Chris Oliva Jr. and Lillian (Raul) Silva, Jr.; 7 grandchildren, Patricia Ann (Ernest) Zapata, Henry Oliva, Eugene (Debra) Alvarez, Michelle (Lucio) Martinez, Jason (Melissa) Hernandez, Valerie Oliva and Christopher Silva; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive her.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Funeraria Del Angel –Memorial Holly with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jason Hernandez, Zakary Zapata, Henry Oliva, Gene Olivarez, Henry Oliva and Christopher Silva.
