Alma graduated from Solomon M. Coles in 1949 and Del Mar College. She worked for 27 years as a school secretary for Fisher Elementary, Los Encinos Elementary, Kostoryz Elementary and Prescott Elementary. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and former member of St. John Baptist Church. Until her illness she loved studying the word of God and praising the Lord through singing. She also served as precinct chairperson for #114 for the Democratic party of Nueces County. She will be truly missed by all who knew her and remembered for her excellent cooking and love for her family. As well as sharing her wisdom with others and her passion for shopping at H.E.B.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Stewart and Gertrude Stewart Willis; maternal grandparents, Willie Sr. and Nora Moore; paternal grandparents, George and June Stewart and beloved relatives and close friends.
She leaves behind her family to cherish her, three loving daughters Gertrude (Charles) Hubbard, Elaine (Andrew) Bridges, Alma Adrienne Harris; five grandchildren, Lawrence Stewart, Shawnté Harris, Monique Bridges, Makenzie Bridges, Madison Bridges, and one great granddaughter, Ymani Thomas and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
Special thanks to her cousin, Carole Poole who always remembered and cared.
