Alex and I went to college together,  worked together during summers at the Boys and Girls Club in corpus and ended up at the same district teaching and coaching.  Alex always loved to give me a hard time. One of my many memories of him was the summer of 2004.  We were going to get lunch with another coworker and he introduced the song Fett's Vette by Mc Cris. I laughed so hard with the song but got into it and started making noises with it...if you have listened you will know. Alex was so full of life. He always found a way to make you smile. God truly takes the best. Love you my friend...you will be missed. 

I worked with Alex for many years at TM. When I moved to the the High School, Alex’s classroom was right around the corner from mine. We shared many conversations in the hallway between class periods. Students flocked to him! He was always a positive influence to all students, and especially to the life skills students…always making an effort to speak words of encouragement and kindness to them. In the classroom he was all about helping his students to be successful and going the extra mile when a student was struggling. I’ll always remember how accepting he was and the great concern he had for those who had problems beyond what most of us should bear outside of the school environment. He will be greatly missed by the countless people whose lives he touched and made an immeasurable impact upon. Rest In Peace, Alex. 

Their are so many times Alex was their as a great friend , from giving me a great reference to get two jobs , to helping me raise JJ , with Stacie’s help.
I loved our times together, game planning  with Joe Salinas . He always did a great job coaching . He was a very intuitive football coach . But the best memories are when Stacie and Alex came to New York for a week to two football games , It was Thanksgiving Night and we had just beat the Cincy Bengals and we wanted to eat . Nothing was open so I took him an Stacie to a Greek Diner.  We had the biggest meal ever, ate like Kings and Queens. When we ask for the bill, The owner kept saying “for you 20 dollars” I said a piece , no “20 dollars .” So I paid him “20 dollars”and I was going to tip him and he said no , “20 dollars”. Then he filled up a grocery bag full of food and sent us home . What a meal and great time .
 For  “20 Dollars.” 
BTW Alex and Stacie came to 4 games . , also to Buffalo for two,  We went 4-0 overall . Great Karma! ,  Dynamic Couple , I am going to miss my great friend . I know he will be missed dearly by all . God Bless his family and Stacie and all that knew such a great person .

When I first came to Kingsville for my freshman year of college I didn’t know anyone at the time. A few days into school, some guys came by and starting talking to me and a few other freshman about coming to an event to learn about possibly rushing for Sigma Chi. We decided to go and the rest was history. When I first met Alex I didn’t really know what to think. Here was a guy almost 10 years my senior who wanted to pledge to a fraternity with some freshman punks. Little did I know how much Alex would end up meaning and doing for me. Alex was more than just the mature one of our pledge class. He kept most of us in line when we needed it. Personally for me, he was the one who helped me keep my head on straight when I was having doubts about school and continuing through our pledging. We probably ended up spending way too much time together but in the end I couldn’t have asked for a better brother. My heart goes out to Stacie and Alex’s family through this tough time. He meant so much to so many. Love you brother. Till we see you again

I remember when I was on the soccer team, sophomore year and being so scared about tryouts and be able to hopefully make it to varsity. The day the roster for the varsity team came up, I felt like I wasn’t going to be on it and kept doubting myself. It wasn’t until I saw coach Richards that morning after checking the roster and him telling me “you got it because of your drive De La Cruz”. Till this day I remember that moment looking at the roster and seeing my name on the varsity list and lastly having that special conversation with him that day.

I am deeply grieved when I think of your tremendous loss. I want to extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family. I will always remember Alex as an honest and caring man who loved to work with the ACC students. I’m privileged to have known him. I will be lifting you and your family in my prayers, that the Lord will give you a peace that surpasses all understanding.

My deepest condolences to all those who loved Alex. We never got very close, but he was my table partner during our staff meetings and always had an interesting story or funny remark to share. He genuinely cared about his students and he was a great teacher. He was taken far, far too early.
