Abel Villarreal, age 77, passed away September 9, 2020. He was born on August 8, 1943 in Corpus Christi, TX to Santiago and Francisca Villarreal. He attended Roy Miller H.S until 1960 and served in the Army National Guard, United States Inf. from 1961-1969. He left as Pvt E2 (F), Expert rifleman Rifle M1).
Abel married his wife of 21 years, Irene on April 25, 1999. He retired from Central Freight Lines where he worked for over 17 years and enjoyed participating in pool leagues and hanging out with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his giving nature and his willingness to give to others. He was a loving and caring father and was devoted to his family.
Abel is preceded in death by his parents, Santiago and Francisca Villarreal; sister, Emma Ruth Jalomo; brothers, Santiago, Jr. and Daniel Villarreal and granddaughter, Madeline Rae Pena.
Abel is survived by his wife, Irene Villarreal; sister, Rachel Marroquin; daughters, Rachel (Mike) Flores and Ruth (Reynaldo A.) Pena; sons, Abel, Jr. (Sirena) Villarreal, Mark Salazar and Jose Hernandez; grandchildren; Angelica Pena, Savanna Pena, Alejandro Pena, Ashlynn Flores, Jake Flores, and great-granddaughter, Jaclyn Flores.
Visitation is at Funeraria del Angel-Everhart on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 9:00 am with Memorial Service at 10:00 am. Services will conclude afterwards. Due to Covid restrictions, capacity is restricted to 100 guests.
