

A.E. “RED” CAMPBELL, 88, passed away on September 8, 2010. He was born in Temple, Texas on March 16, 1922 to A.G. and Martha Addeline Campbell. He graduated from Temple High School in 1940. He proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corps from October 1942 until November 1945 and served in the Central Pacific Theatre. A.E. worked in the grocery business for many years before managing Center Hardware in the Gulfway Shopping Center in Corpus Christi. He later worked for C.C. Wholesale Hardware and Olson-Kessler Meat Company. He was very proud of his service in the Marine Corps and was a member of the Marine Corps League. A.E. will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of music, and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years Doris Olson Campbell; his parents, A.G. and Addie Campbell; and a sister, Katherine Campbell Hamrick.
Survivors include his sister, Jean (John Bob) Motley of Garland, Texas; his children, Carole Jolley (Jim) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Cindy LaPorte (Jerry) of Dripping Springs, Texas, Gray Campbell (Susie) of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Brandon Campbell of Austin, Texas, Marcus (Melanie) LaPorte of Austin, Texas, Matt (Michelle) Jolley of Arlington, Virginia, Ashley (Mike) Kenney of Corpus Christi, Texas, Payton (Searcy) Campbell of Corpus Christi, Texas; great grandson, Kiernan Campbell; and special family friend, Evie Martin.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, 4901 Everhart Road.
