For 38 years, Vito was a chemist/engineer and eventually a plant manager for Ford Motor Company, from which he retired in 2006.
Vito was a beloved husband, father, and brother, as well as a friend to all who knew him. A man of conviction and compassion, he possessed a singular sense of responsibility and could be relied on in every circumstance to be there for others and to do the right thing. He was loved also for his wonderful sense of humor. He understood that God made the world for our delight, and that in even the darker moments of life, laughter has a place. His family and friends have no doubt that now he laughs with the angels. He was light itself, and he is a bright light forever.
Vito is survived by his wife, Lynn, his daughter, Lisa Nelson, his son, Kyle Ratcliff, his sisters, Gerda Koontz and Donna Dunio, his brother, Ross Cerra, and his brother-in-law, Dean Koontz.
