Samuel graduated from a Printing Trade School and enlisted in the United States Airforce where he rose to the rank of Sergeant and enjoyed boxing. On June 9th, 1952, he married the love of his life Matilda Rosado in Miami, FL. After his military service he ran a successful produce stand, BeMat Tropical, in the Bronx, NY for 29 years before relocating his family to Fountain Valley, CA. Samuel was ever the entrepreneur and started another successful business, Tapes And, in Santa Ana, CA that he retired from in 1994.
Samuel, affectionately know as Sam to his friends and Papa to his family was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His passion for travel carried him across the globe and his generosity often allowed his family to accompany him. Blessed with gamblers luck, he owned and raced quarter horses with his son David for 38 years and enjoyed winning at poker. He could always be found reading a book or working on a crossword puzzle, and if you interrupted him at anything he had a quick joke to tell. He will be remembered by all for his brilliant smile that came with ease and his vibrant personality. His grandchildren will remember him for kissing the tips of his fingers after affectionately pinching their cheeks.
Samuel is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Matilda. He is survived by his daughter Karen Sevillano (Behar) and son in law George Sevillano; son David Behar and daughter in law Maureen Behar (Doolin); grandchildren: Samantha Dorado (Sevillano), Stephanie Gutierrez,(Sevillano), Michelle Hernandez, Marie Hernandez, Margery Todor (Hernandez), and Michael Hernandez.
