Citrus industry giant, and produce pioneer, Sam Perricone, 91, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend left this earth on the anniversary of his beloved wife Mary's death 15 years to the day, July 8, 2011. After a brief illness, Sam slipped away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones. Sam is survived by his three children Joe (Karen), Sam (Kathy), and Lucy (Maury Klumok). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, and their spouses, as well as 34 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Sam was pre-deceased by his sister Kate, and is survived by his sister Mary Santoro of Corona Del Mar, and brother Tony Perricone, of Carlsbad, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Sam's life will begin on Monday, with visitation from 2:00-5:00pm at Pacific View Mortuary in Newport Beach, followed on Tuesday evening by the rosary at Our Lady Queen of Angels church in Newport Beach. The funeral mass will be Wednesday at 11:00am, also at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church. Internment will take place Thursday at 11:00am at Resurrection Cemetery in Montebello. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sam's favorite charities: St. John of God, Los Angeles, Villa Scalabrini Retirement Center, Sun Valley, Franciscan Renewal Center, Scottsdale, AZ.
