Sally Sophia Granite

March 19, 1931- January 18, 2018

Sally Sofia Granite, Costa Mesa resident since 1958, passed away January 18th, 2018. Sally is survived by her 4 loving children: Barbara, Daniel (Kathy), Shelly, and Rebecca (Doug). Sally was Grammy to 9 cherished grandchildren. Because of her loving and caring nature, Sally was either Mom or Grammy to everyone she knew.

Sally, the daughter of Russian immigrants, was the youngest of 5 children. She was born and raised in Los Angeles where she met her future husband Bryant in the 5th grade. She enjoyed a career in the Newport Mesa Unified School District, where she served as a classified employee for 22 years. Sally was a fierce advocate for the district’s classified staff holding many CSEA positions including president for many of her service years.

Sally and Bryant enjoyed taking the family on annual camping trips boating and waterskiing. The Granite home was where the family gathered from far and wide to celebrate holidays and family birthdays. While raising the kids during the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, on Conway Avenue, Sally was a member of a group of neighbors that remained close until her death.
